Neighbourhood tutoring for Grades 1 to 10. Real help with real school work, taught by someone who actually remembers what it's like to struggle with it.
Each band has a different focus. We meet kids where they are, not where we wish they were.
Building confidence with numbers, counting, and early problem-solving through activities that feel like play.
Fractions, multiplication, and early science concepts, the skills that make or break the next few years.
Pre-algebra and the pivot to abstract thinking, plus the science concepts that ramp up fast. We help students catch up and get ahead.
Functions, chemistry, and physics matter now. Early high school sets the trajectory, and we help students own it.
No complicated onboarding. Just show up, and we'll take care of the rest.
Sign up in under two minutes. Tell us your child's grade and the subject they need help with.
Pick an open slot from the calendar. We confirm within 24 hours with a time that works around your schedule.
Book as many weekend sessions as you need, completely free, based on what's available. Always free, no catch.
We track progress and adjust focus each session. You'll see the difference in their next report card.
We focus on Ontario curriculum, the exact material your child is actually tested on.
Real words from real families. New stories appear here once they're reviewed and approved.
I started OpenDoor Tutoring because I noticed a real gap in my neighbourhood. Families who wanted extra support for their kids, and students falling behind through no fault of their own.
I'm a Grade 11 student passionate about computer engineering and problem-solving. Teaching is how I give back, and it's made me a sharper thinker. Every session I run teaches me as much as it teaches them.
OpenDoor Tutoring isn't a business. It's a community project. The goal is simple: make sure no kid in our neighbourhood falls behind just because they need a little extra help.
Every session is completely free. We run in community spaces, libraries, and homes around Cambridge. Every session follows the Ontario curriculum so the help actually applies to what's happening in school.
OpenDoor Tutoring exists to close a quiet gap in our community: bright, capable students who fall behind simply because the support around them is stretched thin.
Our free tutoring is dedicated to low-income families and to newly arrived immigrant families finding their footing in a new country. For a child adjusting to a new language, a new curriculum, and a new home all at once, a patient tutor can change everything.
A student who keeps pace in Grade 4 is a student who still believes in themselves in Grade 10. Early, consistent help is one of the most powerful and most overlooked tools for breaking cycles of disadvantage. We meet students before they slip, not after.
Every session is delivered by a volunteer who gives their time freely. There is no profit, no fee, and no fine print. Donated time, community spaces, and goodwill are what make this possible, so that a family's circumstances never decide a child's future.
If you are strong in math or science and have a few hours on a weekend, you can change a younger student's path. Volunteering as a tutor is also a chance to grow: you will sharpen your own understanding, build real teaching and mentoring experience, and become part of something bigger than a report card. Many of our tutors say they learn as much as they teach.
