Hi, I'm the founder.

Grade 12 Student · Ontario

I started OpenDoor Tutoring because I noticed a real gap across Ontario. Families who wanted extra support for their kids, and students falling behind through no fault of their own.

I'm a Grade 12 student passionate about computer engineering and problem-solving. Teaching is how I give back, and it's made me a sharper thinker. Every session I run teaches me as much as it teaches them.

Built for Ontario kids, by one of them.

OpenDoor Tutoring isn't a business. It's a community project. The goal is simple: make sure no kid in Ontario falls behind just because they need a little extra help.

Every session is completely free and conducted online. Every session follows the Ontario curriculum so the help actually applies to what's happening in school.

Ontario Curriculum Aligned Flexible Scheduling Community-Run No Profit Motive

Education should not depend on what a family can afford.

OpenDoor Tutoring exists to close a quiet gap in our community: bright, capable students who fall behind simply because the support around them is stretched thin.

🤝

Who we serve

Our free tutoring is dedicated to low-income families and to newly arrived immigrant families finding their footing in a new country. For a child adjusting to a new language, a new curriculum, and a new home all at once, a patient tutor can change everything.

🌱

Why it matters

When a student gets the right support early, they don't just catch up on a subject, they hold on to their confidence and their belief that they can succeed. Early, consistent help is one of the most powerful and most overlooked tools for breaking cycles of disadvantage. We meet students before they slip, not after.

🫶

How we keep it free

Every session is delivered online by a volunteer who gives their time freely. There is no profit, no fee, and no fine print. Donated time and goodwill are what make this possible, so that a family's circumstances never decide a child's future.

Are you a student who wants to give back?

If you are strong in a school subject and have a few hours to spare, you can change a younger student's path. Volunteering as a tutor is also a chance to grow: you will sharpen your own understanding, build real teaching and mentoring experience, and become part of something bigger than a report card. Many of our tutors say they learn as much as they teach.
